ELCAS Funding at Sportsability: Retrain for a Career in Health and Fitness

What is ELCAS Funding? 

The Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) is a scheme set up by the Ministry of Defence to promote lifelong learning for Armed Forces personnel. ELCAS funding provides financial support to help you gain nationally recognised qualifications at Level 3 or above. The scheme offers either £1,000 or £2,000 per year, depending on your years of service, covering up to 80% of your course fees. It’s designed to help Armed Forces members and veterans retrain and enter new industries, such as health and fitness, after their military service.

How to Claim ELCAS Funding 

Applying for ELCAS funding might seem complex, but with Sportsability, we’re here to simplify the process for you. If you’ve served in the military for at least six years, you’re eligible to claim. Whether you’re still serving or have already left, here’s how you can apply. 

For Serving Personnel:  

Register with ELCAS: Contact your Individual Education and Resettlement Officer (IERO) to get registered on the ELCAS system and receive login details. 
 
Contact Sportsability: Speak to our team to find the right course for you. We’ll guide you through the course options, content, and delivery, making sure it’s the best fit for your future. 
 
Complete and Submit Your ELC Form: Once registered, fill out the form provided by your IERO and submit it through your ELCAS account. 
 
Send Course Details to ELCAS: Submit information about your chosen course, including dates, duration, and registration details. Our team will provide all the information you need. 
 
Submit Your Claim Authorisation Note (CAN): After your claim is processed, send your CAN letter to Luke Dunham at luke.dunham@sportsability.org.uk and you’re ready to begin! 

For Veterans:  

If you’ve already left the Armed Forces, the process is similar but requires some additional documents. Along with the steps above, you’ll need to provide: 
 
Evidence of Last Day of Service: A copy of your discharge document or P45 will suffice. 
 
Utility Bill: Submit a recent utility bill showing your current address.
